The drum dance group was started in 2001 by a number of youth members. Wictor Muise was initially hired to instruct the group, however, since that time the group has become self-sufficient where more experienced members teach newer members. The Dancing and Drumming group is a strong part of the Four WInds Aboriginal Youth Centre. It encourages youth to strengthen cultural ties and instills a sense of pride and an increase in self-esteem within them. The group has performed for many events in and around the St. John's metropolitan area and are becoming more popular every year.
